JAX game, Sept. 26th
Several of you asked about us going to the JAX game. Many of you already bought tickets and have plans for the round-trip or an overnighter.
If you want to go up, you'll need to buddy up with family or pals. When the schedule came out several of us discussed buying 50-100 tickets, arranging a bus or two with some food, etc., but it's too early in the season to gauge interest, set plans with any accuracy and sell the tickets for folks who may change their plans. Third game in leaves us no margin for error.
bring it!!!
Are you into this season or not? Are you into this team or not?
If you are, BRING IT! Wear your green and sit back and cheer these new Eagles!
What's the best thing we have going for us? Aside from the stability, great game day, family emphasis and the great connection to a large pool of Eagles fans just like you and me, it's our loyalty, a "never quit" attitude and passion! Passion drives us. So rev up the juices, put your stake in the season and let's rock the walls with a few cheers and pack the Doubletree! People know when we meet, let's not make them wonder . . .
thank you!
Thanks to everyone who growled at me for not keeping this site current (Philly Joe, Terry, Paul, et al!). I've been super distracted with business issues, family, care-giving, projects, etc. No excuses. I'm back, please check in regularly.
Thanks to the other sites that list us in the links for Eagles groups. We are grateful and will link you if you tell us you want that.
Thanks to the people who show up. It's hard to get better because we have such a good setup, but it's the people like you who make us stand out among the legions of Eagles fans everywhere.
Tampadelphia partners
If you have a business and can offer our group a little Tampadelphia break, please contact me so you can take the mike at halftime and talk about it.
I recently shopped for a sliding glass door to my lanai (down here it's a lanai, up there it's a patio). I called and invited someone from two companies to come in for a quote. One of them was Mark Altare of Window Solutions. When I casually mentioned Philadelphia, Mark said he was from Fox Chase, went to Neshaminy HS and his brothers went to Washington in the far NE.
Tampadelphia partner, Philly Phlava!
It had to happen . . .
We've been there so many times, and sent so many folks over, that our pals at Philly Phlava wanted to partner up and be part of our group and game days.
Expect raffle prizes to include food from this fabulous place, like cheesesteaks, hoagies, Tastykakes and Herr potato chips, and let's remember a soft pretzel. The meats and Amaroso rolls are flown in from the Motherland (Philly) several times a week, and the sandwich melts in your mouth.
But beware, you might like it too much!
the Tampadelphia Rental
You know by now that the Doubletree is one of the best places we could ever partner with. They built the lounge for us, they give us great packages, always ask what more they can do, and offer the great Tampadelphia room rate if you're coming into town and need a place for a night or a week.
Well, Mrs. Tamp and I decided to rent out a property we have, but just to Tampadelphia people. Whether you're back up north or here in the Tampa Bay area, we'll rent you our 2 BR/2 Bath house in Carrollwood, at a great rate.
Welcome to the 2010 Eagles season!
Hello fellow diehards,
We have a new season ahead!
While we are not getting to our usual nest for the pre-season games (due to the late hour that inconvenience some of our group, the easy access to watch them over some home TV networks, and being mostly 2's and 3's trying to make squads) we will be cutting back the roster in days and learning the names of our new team.
The Doubletree is ready!
The manangement of the Doubletree and I met early last week to review our structure and plans for the upcoming season.
Yes, we are back. But not for pre-season, as you may have guessed. The late hour makes a long trip in the dark not so pleasant for some of our members, and really, there isn't much to cheer as the team looks at 2's and 3's.
So, we meet again on Sept. 12th for the Green Bay game.
Upcoming ideas that may work out include:
- a breakfast buffet, all you can eat, that concludes at or slightly before noon. this is perfect for those 1 o'clock games.
Pop - Pop 1917 - 2010
Sorry to say that we lost our longest Eagles fan in July. My wife's father was 93 when he passed just weeks ago, and we wanted to remember him to all of us with a tip of the Eagles cap his way.
While Jules Polliotto, aka Pop Pop, didn't join us on game days he usually asked how "we" did.
Being a well-decorated veteran of WW2 (pacific theater, New Guinea and Burma), was interred at the military cemetary at Bushnell with honors.
Like all our family everywhere, he'll be remembered and missed.
USMC highlight: Santini Bar
Almost forgot one very special highlight.
We had dinner at the Officer's Club at the MCAS (Marine Corp. Air Station) Beaufort, SC. The bar was re-named the Santini Bar after it appeared in the movie "The Great Santini" with Robert Duvall.
The back room holds the treasure. The back wall has images of three famous anti-Americans on it. One looked like Saddam or may have been an Ayatollah, one looked like a Chinese or korean leader, and the one in the center was OBL.
